Believing strongly in the connection between mind, body and emotions, I  offer an alternative treatment approach,  Neurofeedback, also known as EEG Biofeedback. This therapeutic training tool is used to improve a variety of symptoms related to health concerns and emotional stressors. Neurofeedback successfully targets unwanted symptoms and helps to decrease and/or diminish them.

Neurofeedback includes a thorough assessment and may be helpful with, but not limited to, the following:

  •  Eating Disorders
  •  Depression
  •  Anxiety, Phobias, OCD
  •  PTSD
  •  ADD/ADHD
  •  Insomnia

Neurofeedback is evidence-based treatment that has been used to reduce psychological and emotional distress since the 1970s. Precise instruments measure physiological activity such as brainwaves, heart function, breathing, muscle activity, and skin temperature. These instruments rapidly and accurately ‘feed back’ information to the user. Neurofeedback, simply put, is brain exercise. The electroencephalogram (EEG) records your brain waves which you’ll learn to change (increase or decrease frequencies) based on feedback from the EEG.  Working with a therapist who specializes in neurofeedback leads to the brain functioning with greater control and stability through self-regulation.

During a typical neurofeedback session, sensors are attached to specific areas on your scalp which pick up your brain waves. The EEG measures and records the frequencies your brain is using to perform a particular task on the computer. A computer processes your brain waves and gathers certain information. You are shown the ebb and flow of your brain waves, and the specific information obtained from them in the form of a video game. I instruct you how to play the video game using only your brain waves. When the desired brain wave frequency is reached, your brain is rewarded and learns to direct itself towards a more desirable performance level. The brain wave frequencies targeted are specific to you.

Neurofeedback can be used alone or can be used in conjunction with other therapies.
